Proportional Play

So I am borrowing a look from two of my favorite bloggers, Monk and Elaine, who decided to push the proportional boundaries and pair two rather non-shapely pieces with each other.   Since they are cool, I decided that I would try this look myself, while also playing with patterns and see how this mish-mash would end up.

I don't know if it is very flattering, but man, it sure was comfortable!  I decided to augment this black and white look with teal/turquoise accents.  I like the pop of color against the mixing of patterns, because I think it somehow unifies the whole look.

Sweater - J.Crew
Skirt - Banana Republic
Wedges - TOMS
Bracelet - JewelMint
Necklace - Urban Outfitters
Sunnies - TJMaxx

Maybe it's just the colors, but I really like this look. I firmly believe that you can create a look based on how well colors look together and nothing else.

@Christina - I think you are totally right - at least, that is what I am going to believe :)

@Laura - I HIGHLY recommend TOMS - they are so, so comfortable! I just suggest ordering a size up from your normal shoe size, as I have found that they tend to run small!
